This week I started making a playlist for my runs during the week and started to wonder, what is everyone else listening to? There is nothing like a great song to keep you going when you don't want to and I have been reading studies that say music can boost performance levels by 10%! Here is a sample from this week's list:
Tom Waits-Make it Rain
Beck-Timebomb
Beastie boys-Body Movin'
AC/DC-Highway to Hell
Eddy Grant-Electric Avenue (hey, it's a good song)
Anyway, I would love to hear what everyone else is listening to!
Finally, I don't want to be a broken record but one more thing about signing up for a race, you don't have to run to participate. There are numerous participants at every event I have attended that walk the race and love it! It's not whether you run or walk, it's whether you tried or not.
Hope everyone is doing well,
Aaron

Thanks Aaron, I like the idea of running/racing/walking with a group - and for a purpose. Are there any upcoming races you suggest?
ReplyDeleteI am signed up for the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure on April 18th ... yes, the day before the next evaluation with Chris but it is only 5K so I said I am doing it! I welcome those that want to walk with me! I will work on getting my link out to everyone by Monday since I am heading out of town today.
ReplyDeleteAs for music .... I rock my walks to Disturbed and Queensryche. I have been thinking I need to get a mix going on my iPod so that I have variety but have not done that yet. By the way, Electric Avenue is a good song! Rock on with your bad self! Christine
Aaron, I have been an on again off again runner for years and finally put myself out there to sign up for Race for the Cure last year. I loved the feel of doing it. With just the committment of doing that one little race I climbed a 75 foot boulder on a vacation my husband and I took and I signed up for the Mini Marathon for this year. I would have never done either of those things if I hadn't put that first effort out there.
ReplyDeleteI like your ecelectic music tastes! I am like that too. Some of the stuff on my iPod right now:
My Sweet Love - Mellenkamp
Don't you Evah - Spoon
Viva La Vida - Coldplay (whole cd)
Word Up - Cameo (I love football so I love stadium rock - blush)
Right Now - Van Halen
Sogno - Andrea Bocelli (whole CD)
Have a great week!
Hi, Aaron, Just wanted to thank you for two recommendations you made and which I've been enjoying. First, I watched Run, Fat Boy, Run recently and thoroughly enjoyed it! Cracked me up.
ReplyDeleteAnd, second, I've purchased ChiRunning and am fascinated by his approach. I got a video that came with the book and watching him and others run is very inspiring. These runners seem to float over the ground, barely making contact. I'm reading the book now and would welcome any suggestions you may have for putting all this into practice. I've stopped running temporarily while I have some chiropractic work done to relieve some pain in my spine, but it won't be long before I get back to running again. I want to put these principles to work for me. If you know of any clinics or can share any words of wisdom related to learning to run in this fashion, I'd appreciate your help. Thanks!
